18-year-old victim identified in deadly Portland airport hotel shooting

An 18-year-old man killed Saturday night in a shooting at the Embassy Suites by Hilton near Portland International Airport has been identified.

Parnell Badon, Jr., died some time after 9:30 p.m. at the hotel at 7900 N.E. 82nd Avenue, Port of Portland Police confirmed on Monday.

The port police and officers from the Portland Police Bureau responded to the shooting. One to three suspects fled the scene, they said. No one has been arrested, police said.

It’s unclear if Badon was a guest at the hotel. He appears to have been from the Portland area.

Embassy Suites by Hilton has not responded to requests for comment.

If the fatal shooting is determined by a medical examiner to be a homicide, it would mark the 90th in Portland so far this year. By the end of 2021, the city had a record 92 homicide victims.
