In a shower of laser lights and EDM music, partygoers were transported to a “Cosmic Circus” at the Alberta Abbey on Friday night.
Murderboat and Code Name: Project Wonky came together to create a Halloween party that featured DJs, performers, interactive art and even a quiet space for tea. Murderboat is responsible for other popular themed parties, like the one they threw inside a plane in the woods and one inside of a giant blanket fort.
Inside the Alberta Abbey, which has old church vibes, there were two floors of bumping music with more than 100 costumed people dancing.

A ball pit graced the middle of the basement room that people happily dived into for that perfect Instagram photo. The basement also held aerial performers on a lighted hoop and a spooky themed photo booth (just in case the ball pit wasn’t sufficient). A bar served beer and other drinks but the party also offered a music-free room that had chairs and a more relaxed atmosphere. It also functioned as a small performance space.
Costumes ranged from objectively terrifying clowns on stilts to 1960s-inspired futuristic styles, like astronauts and shiny aliens a la the original “Star Trek” series.
The party will continue on Saturday, October 29.
