
With the weather a little more mild than it was on Friday night, the OSAA Class 3A/2A/1A girls cross country race kicked off the day’s state championships.
Daisy Lalonde of East Linn Christian finished first in the race with a time of 18 minutes, 43.7 seconds. She is the first runner from East Linn Christian to win a state championship.
In second was Lauren Tittel of Oregon Episcopal with a time of 18:55.2 and in third was Jaya Simmons in 19:12.5.
In fourth place was Delaney Draeger of Vernonia (19:34.7), fifth was Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks (19:36.9) and sixth was Burns’ Sydney White (19:37.2).
Enterprise won the team title with 63 total points. It’s the first time Enterprise has won the cross country title since 2017, and the Outlaws’ second overall.
Enterprise’s top performers were Piper Harvey, who took 11th in 20:03.2 and Abigail Hurley, who toko 13th in 20:12.8.
At 20th, Enterprise had Mary Hellinger, who finished in 20:27.1. Owyhee Harguess took 24th (20:45.4), Maddie Nordtvedt was 27th (20:51.3), Opal McDonald was 30th (20:53.8) and Freyja Hostetter was 38th (21:11.3).
