Firefighters extinguish a house fire in Lents

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in Southeast Portland’s Lents neighborhood Saturday morning.

The first crew arrived at about 7:15 a.m. to find the front porch of the home completely engulfed in flames. A nearby fence was also on fire, according to a news release from Portland Fire & Rescue.

The second crew that arrived searched inside the home and didn’t find any people there.

The fire moved into the soffit above the porch and burned through that portion of the roof, but it was contained to the attic until firefighters were able to put it out.

A person arrived on scene and said that a tenant was unaccounted for and might have returned to the house before firefighters arrived. A crew searched the house again but no one was found inside.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
