Oregon Ducks ‘very confident’ injured nose tackle Popo Aumavae will be able to return in 2023

Nose tackle Popo Aumavae, the only scholarship senior who didn’t take part in the Oregon Ducks’ Senior Night ceremony before last week’s game against Utah, is expected to return in 2023 if the NCAA grants him an additional year of eligibility.

Aumavae suffered a season-ending right foot injury late in fall camp and had surgery during the first week of September. The sixth-year senior is seeking an additional year of eligibility in order to return next season.

“I know Popo wants to and I know we certainly want to have him back,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. “We feel very confident that he’s going to be able to do that.”
