Oregon State has cracked football’s top 25 for the first time since 2013.
The Beavers were No. 24 in this week’s AP Top 25, the traditional writer’s poll. OSU just missed the coaches’ top 25, finishing with the highest number of votes among those outside the top 25.
OSU’s last national ranking was Oct. 2013, when the Beavers were No. 25 after a 49-17 win over California in Week 9.
Oregon State, idle on Saturday as last week was the team’s bye week, received 129 votes to land at No. 24. The Beavers (6-2, 3-2 Pac-12) are among five Pac-12 teams in the top 25.
OSU moved up this week after seven Top 25 teams lost Saturday, including No. 19 Kentucky, No. 20 Cincinnati and No. 25 South Carolina. Last week, the Beavers were third among teams receiving votes outside the top 25.
In this week’s coaches poll, OSU received 71 votes in the coaches’ poll. No. 25 Central Florida received 89 votes. The last time Oregon State was among the top 25 in the coaches poll was the 2013 preseason rankings.
Oregon State resumes play Friday when the Beavers head to Washington for a 7:30 p.m. game (ESPN2) in Husky Stadium. Washington is a three-point favorite.
