Painting project closes Morrison Bridge to all users Friday night through early Monday

The Morrison Bridge will close to all traffic including vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14-17 as crews work on an ongoing painting project.

The closures will repeat Oct. 21-24. Contractors will be painting on the east side of the bridge, as well as removing, inspecting, and replacing steel beams.

Alternate routes include the Hawthorne, Steel, and Broadway bridges.

Other ongoing traffic impacts include:

  • Traffic Lane Closure: The two outside traffic lanes on the bridge are closed so the contractor can build scaffolding, deliver materials, set up equipment and access the work site.
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Lane Reduction: Use caution when riding or walking across the bridge and be aware of construction materials..
  • North Sidewalk Closure:  The narrow north sidewalk of the bridge is closed from the west end of the bridge to the TriMet bus stop above Southeast Water Ave. through 2022. The bus stop remains open. Bicyclists and pedestrians should use the wider shared path on the south side of the bridge.

The Morrison Bridge Paint Project began in January 2022 and will continue until fall 2023. For information visit the website: multco.us/morrisonpaint
