A woman was struck and killed by a driver in Northeast Portland Tuesday night.
Officers responded to reports of a pedestrian hit by a car at the intersection of Northeast 162nd Avenue and Fargo Street around 6:50 p.m. She had died when they arrived, police said in a statement Tuesday.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and tried to help the woman, police said.
The Portland Bureau Major Crash Team is investigating. Southbound Northeast 162nd Avenue was closed between Northeast Siskiyou Street and Northeast Sandy Boulevard for several hours.
