Phil Knight Invitational, Legacy tournament bracket updates, scores, schedules: Near upsets highlight Day 1
The first day of the Phil Knight Invitational and Phil Knight Legacy college basketball tournaments in Portland brought some near upsets and one overtime thriller.
In the PK Invitational’s first men’s game of the day, the Portland Pilots pushed top-ranked North Carolina into the final few minutes before the Tar Heels pulled away to win 89-81. Then Iowa State needed overtime before outlasting Villanova 81-79. In the PK Legacy, Oregon State gave No. 8 Duke all it could handle before the Blue Devils won 54-51.
In the women’s PK Invitational, No. 18 Oregon challenged No. 8 North Carolina before falling 85-79, while fifth-ranked Iowa State cruised past Michigan State 80-49.
