Portland police and Crime Stoppers of Oregon are seeking help in an unsolved shooting that killed a mother and injured her fiancé and two boys, 1 and 5, last winter.
Adau G. Duop, her fiancé and two sons were shot Feb. 20 while in their car in Southeast Portland. The 25-year-old mother died before officers arrived.
Surveillance footage showed three cars driving east on Foster Road at 10:36 p.m. as a light turned green at the intersection of Southeast 128th Avenue.
A white SUV in the outer lane drove up to Duop’s tan SUV, which swerved left through a turn lane before slowly coming to a stop in the oncoming west lane of traffic, outside the family’s apartment complex. The white SUV drove off quickly down Foster Road.
Crime Stoppers is also offering rewards for information on three homicides that remain unsolved from 2020.
Evelin Navarro Barajas, 23, was shot and killed in a neighborhood parking lot at Northeast Killingsworth Street and Cully Boulevard June 18, 2020, around 11:49 p.m. A car stopped near the parking lot, and someone inside fired multiple gunshots at a group that included Barajas and children.
Barajas was pronounced dead at the scene. A male friend of Barajas was shot but survived.
Investigators said nothing indicated Barajas or her group had any relationship to the people who showed up in the car and began shooting.
In July 2020, 19-year-old Julian Heredia died in a shooting in the 13600 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard. Police responded around 9 p.m. July 10.
Later that year, on Oct. 23, firefighters found Huarleen Bain, 40, dead inside a burning car near Northeast 148th Place and Northeast San Rafael Drive just before 11 p.m. Police have released few details about his death.
People with tips can submit them online and they can stay anonymous. Crime Stoppers offers up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest.
