Portland Timbers share updated roster ahead of 2022 offseason



The Portland Timbers on Friday announced their updated roster ahead of the 2022 offseason, making several moves on the back end of a team with nearly all of its players from this season remaining under contract.

Options were declined on midfielders George Fochive and Blake Bodily, along with goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg. The Timbers picked up the options of defenders Zac McGraw and Justin Rasmussen, along with forward Diego Gutierrez.

Defender Josecarlos Van Rankin’s loan was allowed to expire, as The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported on Thursday.

KEY OFFSEASON DATES:

Nov. 7: Trade window opens, MLS teams can make adjustments to rosters and trade with other MLS teams.

Nov. 9: Trade window closes, blackout period until after the MLS Expansion Draft.

Nov. 11: MLS Expansion Draft for the league’s 28th team, St. Louis City SC.

Nov. 16: MLS free agency opens

Dec. 21: The 2023 MLS SuperDraft. Three rounds in reverse order of the MLS standings, including postseason performance. St. Louis City SC has the first pick as an expansion side.
