Downtown Portland is starting to look a little more festive. A 75-foot, 8,500-pound Douglas fir was delivered to Pioneer Court House Square Wednesday.
The tree donated by Stimson Lumber Company was lifted with a crane and secured near the center of the square where it will be outfitted with 14,000 LED lights.
At 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving, Santa Claus will flip the switch for the annual tree lighting ceremony. After two years of virtual festivities, the event is welcoming revelers again. Pink Martini’s Thomas Lauderdale will host a singalong with other local musicians and choral singers.
Here’s a look at the 2018 tree lighting ceremony.
