Power outages continue, hitting 5,000 in North Portland overnight

More than 5,000 homes were without power overnight in North Portland, according to Portland General Electric’s outage map.

After a week of downpours and strong winds, downed trees and equipment failures continue to plague the utility company’s power grid.

The North Portland outage was restored by 7:30 a.m.

As the region barrels into storm season, PGE encourages its customers to prepare outage kits of flashlights, extra batteries, car chargers and ready-to-eat food and water.
