Trader Joe’s to open Tigard store on Friday

Trader Joe’s will open a new store in Tigard on Friday, the grocer announced this week.

The new store, located at 16200 S.W. Pacific Highway is set to open its doors at 8 a.m. with a brief ribbon cutting beforehand.

The national retailer said the store’s interior will feature a mural of the Tigard Festival of Balloons, an annual hot air balloon event.

Trader Joe’s added that the Tigard store will donate all unsold products to local nonprofits.

The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported about the small-format grocery chain’s plans in June after the company was issued a permit to renovate the site of a former Albertsons at Tigard Towne Square.

This will be the California-based grocer’s 10th location in the Portland area and 14th in Oregon. It has opened more than 500 stores across the country since the brand debuted in 1967.
