Video shows Oregon edge rusher DJ Johnson punching Oregon State fan after Ducks lose to Beavers

DJ Johnson’s college career is ending in disgrace.

The sixth-year Oregon senior was captured on video punching an Oregon State fan in the back of the head following the Beavers’ 38-34 win over the Ducks on Saturday afternoon at Reser Stadium.

Johnson is seen walking from Oregon’s sideline toward the tunnel for the away team to the locker room at Gill Coliseum when a fan dressed in an Oregon State jersey makes a salute gesture toward him. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound Johnson then punches the fan in the back of the head and is separated by multiple UO support staffers.

Johnson had three tackles in Saturday’s loss, bringing his season total to 39 tackles with 8.5 for loss, including six sacks, and two pass breakups in 11 games.

It’s not immediately clear what discipline Johnson will face either from UO, the Pac-12 or legal authorities at OSU or Corvallis Police. Requests for comment from OSU and the Pac-12 were not immediately returned.

No. 9 Oregon (9-3, 7-2 Pac-12) can clinch a spot in next week’s Pac-12 championship game with a Washington loss in the Apple Cup. Otherwise the Ducks await their bowl destination and matchup on Dec. 4.
