KYLE WHITTINGHAM
Opening statement…
“Tough, hard-fought football game. Very close, obviously score-wise, statistically, just a battle between two really good teams. I give them credit, they made a couple more plays than we did. We weren’t quite in sync on offense tonight and never really got in much of a rhythm. I am very proud of the way the defense played overall and we held them to 50 some yards rushing, which was a ton under what they’re used to getting. The guys played hard, no doubt about that. Great effort. Oregon played hard as well and like I said, it was just two good football teams going at it and they made more plays than we did.”
On why Utah’s offense was out of sync…
“I gotta watch the film but I know they have a bunch of good athletes on defense and a lot of it has to do with their personnel and the way they played, but I thought for sure that we could win the game on those last two drives. It didn’t happen tonight.”
On if he thought we got a 1st down on the 4th down conversion that was reviewed…
“No, I don’t think he had it and that’s my skewed and slanted opinion, but I think we had them stopped and the replay could not confirm that.”
